This documentary explores the history and significance of America's first national cemetery, from its founding during the Civil War to today. Viewers will learn about important events in the cemetery's history, including the state funeral of President John F. Kennedy on November 25, 1963, and the creation of the Tomb of the Unknowns. The program concludes with a look at the cemetery today and the many monuments dedicated to those who proudly served the United States. The program also includes a lesson plan and features an interview with Michael Patterson, founder and webmaster of the Arlington National Cemetery Web site. A teacher's guide is available online.
