For sale in U.S. only-- Welcome to India! In this program, students travel to the city of Dehradun, where they will begin their journey with a stroll through a park commemorating Mahatma Gandhi, enjoy a glass of lassi, a frothy yogurt drink, and try on a sari, a traditional garment worn by Indian women. Throughout the program, students will learn about some of the cultural traditions, history, climate and politics of India, including how the cow is a sacred animal in India! After a visit to a Hindu temple and the sacred site of Sahastradhara, students will sit down for a meal of chicken tandoori and naan. At the journey's culmination, students will visit the mausoleum of Ram Rai, watch a cricket match and partake of one of India's most popular pastimes -- going to the movies! Part of the Countries Around the World Series. A teacher's guide for the series is included and available online. Title-specific guides are available online.
