 (1940-1994) Wilma Rudolph was born the 20th of 22 children to a poor family in the segregated South. Partially paralyzed by polio, her strong will and determination helped her to walk and then run to win three Olympic gold medals in track and field. Rudolph is remembered as one of America's greatest female athletes, and hers is a story of triumph over seemingly insurmountable odds.
