Iain Glen stars in this Masterpiece Theatre adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's novel directed by Brendan Maher. Set against the fierce social and political backdrop of the Scottish rebellion against England in the mid-1700s, the story chronicles the adventures of Scottish hero Alan Breck and a boy named David Balfour as they escape murder and shipwreck on a quest for justice.
As the story unfolds, 15-year-old David finds himself trapped on a ship and headed for slavery in the New World when he attempts to claim his inheritance to a great landed estate -- the House of Shaws. But thanks to the intervention of Alan Breck, he eludes his captors and joins in on a wild flight through the Scottish highlands, pursued by ruthless English bounty hunters. Produced by Diana Kyle.
