PRODUCT SUMMARY

For sale in U.S. only-- Welcome to Myanmar! In this program, students begin their journey in a small village, where they will visit a Buddhist monastery before heading to the neighboring town of Bago to attend Nat Pwe, a festival honoring spirit-guardians. Next, it's off to Yangôn, the country's largest city, to see the famous Shwedagon Pagoda. Throughout the program, students will learn about some of the cultural traditions, history, climate and politics of Myanmar, including how Buddhism plays a central role in daily life. Students will get a chance to witness shin pyu, a Buddhist ceremony of initiation. Part of the Countries Around the World Series. A teacher's guide for the series is included and available online. Title-specific guides are available online.
