PRODUCT SUMMARY
For sale in U.S. only-- Welcome to Mali! In this program, students will travel to the capital city of Bamako on the banks of the Niger River. While there, students will ride in a group taxi and see some of the city's monuments on the way to a bustling outdoor market. Then, students will sit around a "talking tree" and listen to a griot, or traditional oral historian, sing. Throughout the program, students will learn about some of the cultural traditions, history, climate and politics of Mali, including how desertification is threatening Mali's agriculture. Before their journey ends, students will navigate the Niger to reach the rustic village of Segoukoro, where they will meet the chief and visit the tomb of King Biton Mamary Coulibaly. Part of the Countries Around the World Series. A teacher's guide for the series is included and available online. Title-specific guides are available online.
