PRODUCT SUMMARY

For sale in U.S. only-- Welcome to Indonesia! In this program, students will travel to the island of Java to tour the capital city of Jakarta. The journey begins with a trip to the top of the Monas monument, an obelisk celebrating Indonesian independence, and continues with prayers in the Istiqlal Mosque, one of the largest mosques in Southeast Asia. After shopping in an outdoor market, students will stroll through the Old Batavia section of Jakarta and take a boat ride along the waterfront. Throughout the program, students will learn about some of the cultural traditions, history, climate and politics of Indonesia, including how only about 6,000 of Indonesia's roughly 17,000 islands are inhabited! The students' journey will culminate with a trip to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, a theme park featuring pavilions that display the breadth and depth of Indonesian culture. Part of the Countries Around the World Series. A teacher's guide for the series is included and available online. Title-specific guides are available online.
