In this program, students will begin their travels in the village of Takmao and get a glimpse of daily life, including going to school, preparing lunch and buying snacks at recess. Then, on a field trip to the Royal Palace in the city of Phnom Penh, students will learn about some of the legends surrounding the establishment of the capital. Throughout the program, students will learn a little about the cultural traditions, history, climate and politics of Cambodia, and they will also take a ride in a motorbike taxi to the market to sell some mangoes. Students will then ride on an elephant up to the pagoda of Wat Phnom, where they will witness a Buddhist ceremony. The journey will come to a close with a boat trip through a floating village on the Mekong River en route to the Temple of Angkor to marvel at the beauty and wonder of the ancient structure and the Cambodian countryside.
