PRODUCT SUMMARY

Although perhaps most remembered for his resignation speech in the aftermath of the Watergate Scandal, Richard Nixon's "Checkers Speech" salvaged his political career at a time when another political crisis threatened to derail his promising career. Students will find out that Nixon's address to the nation in 1952 reversed his fortunes, transforming him from a relatively obscure Vice Presidential candidate almost certain to be dropped from the Republican ticket to a formidable political power whose influence would be felt across the American landscape for a generation. Part of the multivolume Greatest Speeches of the 20th Century: Voices in Time Series. A Teacher's Guide is included and available online.
