PRODUCT SUMMARY

Through the after-school exploits of an aspiring young scientist, Energy in Action takes students beyond the basics to help them understand the five main forms of energy: mechanical, chemical, heat, electromagnetic and nuclear. Compelling examples show how stored energy is converted to active energy and how energy continually changes from one form to another. Fast-paced footage and dynamic graphics help explain concepts like convection, conduction, radiation, fission and fusion. Students learn about alternatives to nonrenewable energy resources. Each program includes engaging demonstrations and a fun, hands-on investigation to further enhance understanding of difficult concepts. This series is based on the concepts outlined in the National Science Education Standards for Physical Science: properties & changes of properties of matter, motions & forces and transfer of energy. Part of the Schlessinger Science Library in Action Collection. Each program includes a Teacher's Guide.
