In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Neil Armstrong's historic first footsteps on the moon comes this six-volume collection from executive producer Tom Hanks, produced with the cooperation of NASA. This acclaimed series follows the missions of the Apollo astronauts and tells the stories of the people who lived, witnessed and were directly involved with one of the greatest achievements in the history of man. Based in part on the book, A Man on the Moon, by Andrew Chaikin.

CAN WE DO THIS: PART 1/APOLLO 1: PART 2
Features the launch of the Mercury Project and the demise of astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee as they undergo a routine space capsule test in preparation for the Apollo 1 flight.
WE HAVE CLEARED THE TOWER: PART 3/1968: PART 4
Features the Apollo 7 mission with astronauts Wally Schirra, Don Eisele and Walt Cunningham, plus the Apollo 8 mission with astronauts Frank Borman, Jim Lovell and William Anders -- the first manned voyage to the moon.
SPIDER: PART 5/MARE TRANQUILITATIS: PART 6
Features the first docking of two manned vessels in space on Apollo 9, the first flight of a lunar module in the moon's orbit on Apollo 10 and the liftoff of Apollo 11, plus the Apollo 11 mission with astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins that put the first footsteps on the moon.

Features a look at the tension, anxiety, joy, pressure and despair that was experienced by the wives of the American astronauts, plus a look at the final Apollo 17 mission and astronauts Gene Cernan and Harrison "Jack" Schmitt. This program also looks at the 1902 film by George Melies.
