Did you ever wonder how weather forecasters predict the weather? This program looks at how meteorologists gather and interpret current weather data. Students will be introduced to everything from weather maps, weather stations and satellites to airplanes, weather ships and weather balloons. Students will also learn how to read a meteorological weather map and see the office of the National Weather Service. One of six volumes in the Weather Fundamentals Video Series in the Schlessinger Science Library. Part of the Schlessinger Science Library in Action Collection. This title correlates to the National Science Education Standards for Earth and Space Science -- structure of Earth's system, Earth's history and Earth in the solar system. This title includes a Teacher's Guide. |
Endorsed by the National Association of Geoscience Teachers. " ...Good graphics, enjoyable scripting and cool facts make the Weather Fundamentals series an excellent choice. ...Highly recommended." - Video Librarian
"Both public and school libraries will want to purchase this great new series....Each segment can be used as a lesson by itself, although not even the most restless student would have trouble watching the entire video at one sitting. The technical quality is excellent, and the background music is snappy....Another reason to add this series to collections that probably already have some weather videos is the currency of the information." - School Library Journal
"...this professional, polished series is a perfect companion to classroom weather units and projects." - Booklist
