PRODUCT SUMMARY

For sale in U.S. and Canada only-- Meet Antoine, a 10-year-old boy from a coastal town in Brittany, France. Because his father works away at sea for long periods of time, Antoine is the "man of the house," living with his sister, mother, aunt and grandmother, who all look forward to receiving letters from his dad. Antoine likes to play football, race his homemade go-cart with friends and scour the beach in search of shellfish. On Sundays, his entire extended family gathers for a traditional lunch, which begins with a toast and ends with lighthearted singing and joke-telling. A Teacher's Guide is included and available online.

Part of the multivolume Families Around the World Video Series.

EDITORIAL REVIEWS

"The importance of family and cultural heritage is stressed...this glimpse into other children's lives is interesting and would provide excellent compare/contrast opportunities..."- School Library Journal (Sept 2003)
