PRODUCT SUMMARY

Exciting adventures appear at every turn as children are introduced to the U.S. Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and learn about Puerto Ricans who have come to live on the U.S. mainland, bringing their unique cultural traditions with them. Everyone learns to count to 10 and say a few words in Spanish. Then, children visit the town of Ponce, Puerto Rico, where a carnival celebration is in full swing with parades, colorful costumes, masks, festive music and dancing. Children learn to make their own carnival mask, watch an animated folktale, Song of the Coqui, about the native Puerto Rican frog and sing a folksong about the frog, called "El Coqui." Part of the American Cultures for Children Video Series, which introduces children to the rich tapestry of world cultures thriving in America today. Features Tony Award-winning actress Phylicia Rashad.
