PRODUCT SUMMARY

From the critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning PBS children's series, Reading Rainbow, this program presents the book by Margaret K. Wetterer. The book tells the true story of a 15-year-old girl who bravely rushes out into a storm to save two men and prevent hundreds of other lives from being lost. Host LeVar Burton visits the Los Angeles Train Yard, where he meets an Amtrak train engineer and takes a tour of a train car. Viewers will learn about the history of trains through film clips and photographs, locomotives and train engines, and the job of a train engineer.

The Reading Rainbow programs are designed to encourage children to read by transporting them to exciting, real-life settings. The series introduces kids to interesting new people and places, explores social and cultural issues, and offers a close-up look at the world around them. Its dynamic, fast-paced, colorful animation and hip music entertain and reinforce these experiences, and help children embrace positive reading habits, skills and attitudes.
