PRODUCT SUMMARY

From the critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning PBS children's series, Reading Rainbow, this program presents the book by Eve Bunting. The book tells the story of a homeless boy and his father who move from terminal to terminal in an airport, trying not to be noticed. The boy expresses frustration about being homeless, yet still has hope for the future. Also in this episode, host LeVar Burton talks with children whose families have been left homeless, and viewers meet a young girl who started an organization to help the homeless and a teenage boy who volunteers at a food distribution center for the homeless.

The Reading Rainbow programs are designed to encourage children to read by transporting them to exciting, real-life settings. The series introduces kids to interesting new people and places, explores social and cultural issues, and offers a close-up look at the world around them. Its dynamic, fast-paced, colorful animation and hip music entertain and reinforce these experiences, and help children embrace positive reading habits, skills and attitudes.
