PRODUCT SUMMARY

(1927-1993) Cesar Chavez dedicated his life to the fight against injustices suffered by migrant farm workers. Chavez founded the United Farm Workers of America, an AFL-CIO labor union, giving exploited workers a way to challenge bad conditions and low salaries. His nonviolent stance proved that dedication to a cause can be even more effective than force, and his example continues to inspire individuals and movements worldwide. Interviews with Richard Chavez (Cesar's brother) and Dolores Huerta (co-founder of the United Farm Workers of America) describe Cesar's character and his devotion to his work. Part of the multivolume Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Video Collection, a compelling set of biographies that introduces students to outstanding Hispanic and Latin American men and women. Available in both English and Spanish.
