DVD — What are the benefits?

Storage Capacity:  Each DVD is capable of storing an average of 5-18 GB (gigabytes) of information. This greatly enhanced storage capacity will save space and, therefore, allow for the continued growth of library collections, even when shelf space is at a premium.

Superior Quality:  Educational programs, interactive software and family and classic films are being released on DVD because of the opportunity for increased quality of presentation and storage capability is far superior than that of other media. Schools and libraries now have the opportunity to begin upgrading their collections and educational material with DVD products.

Ease-of-Use:  DVD is easy to use and can deliver programs in multiple screen & angle formats. In many cases, a menu system allows DVD users to switch between multiple language tracks or closed-captioning, making it ideal for foreign language study and ESL students.

Durability:  DVD is an archival medium that will withstand many years of heavy use without any degradation of quality, thus minimizing replacement costs.
