Library Organizations
  • American Library Association (ALA) - ALA represents and supports over 100,000 school, public, academic and special libraries across the United States. The web site features news, events, member services, publications and resources for librarians as well as parents and kids.
  • Public Library Association (PLA) - A division of the American Library Association, PLA enhances the development and effectiveness of public librarians and public library services.
  • Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) - A division of the American Library Association, YALSA advocates, promotes and strengthens services to young adults as part of the continuum of total library service.
Teacher Organizations
  • American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) - The ACTFL provides foreign language teachers with information on programs, meetings, publications, standards and a listing of resources.
  • Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) - AECT seeks to link professionals holding a common interest in the use of educational technology and its application to the learning process. The site presents AECT divisions, chapters and affiliates as well as professional development opportunities.
  • National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) - NCTE is devoted to improving the teaching of English and the language arts at all levels of education. The NCTE site offers information on publications, professional development and teaching ideas.
  • National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) - NCTM is devoted to improving the teaching and learning of mathematics at all levels. The site offers information on meetings, publications, standards and a marketplace of math resources.
  • National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) - Dedicated to social studies education, NCSS serves elementary, secondary and college teachers of history, geography, economics, political science, sociology, psychology, anthropology and law-related education. The NCSS web site features extensive teaching resources and Internet links.

  • National School Boards Association (NSBA) - NSBA’s mission is to foster equity and excellence in public elementary and secondary education through school board leadership. The site offers reports on NSBA policies, programs and services.
  • National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) - NSTA is dedicated to promoting excellence and innovation in science teaching and learning for all levels. The site presents information on programs, current news, online resources and the NSTA Science Store Online.

  • Booklist Home Page - The digital counterpart to the American Library Association's Booklist magazine, the Booklist Home Page presents reviews of adult and youth books, reference and multimedia, as well as Editors’ Choice and Best Books Lists.
  • Electronic School Online - The online version of Electronic School, a quarterly technology magazine for K-12 school leaders. This site offers readers practical advice on how to implement technology in the classroom.
  • Library Journal - An electronic offshoot of Library Journal, librarians can access reviews of everything from books, audio and video to CD-ROMs, web sites and magazines, as well as current news, articles and editorials.
  • Multimedia & Internet Schools - A practical how-to magazine that addresses multiple technologies used in K-12 schools today, including CD-ROM, multimedia, online and Internet resources.
  • School Library Journal - The web companion to the printed publication for librarians working with children and young adults, SLJ Online features news, articles, editorials, reviews of books, videos and multimedia, links and awards.
  • techLEARNING.com - Designed for K-12 school administrators, teachers and technology coordinators, Technology & Learning magazine provides information on improving and expanding the use of technology in schools and school districts.
  • Video Librarian Online - Video Librarian, a comprehensive video review guide, offers a web site for librarians and fans of video. The site includes new reviews, searchable databases of back reviews and current industry news.
Resources For Educators
  • CyberBee - This site provides a wealth of articles and information on copyright, curriculum, presentations, and web site construction and evaluation.
  • Education World - A web site for educators, students and families, Education World features an education-specific search engine with links to over 111,000 sites. Designed to help educators in lesson planning and classroom projects, the site also provides resources for continuing education and professional development.
  • Teacher Connections - From the New York Times on the Web Learning Network, this site allows teachers to access and print out a detailed lesson plan based on the day's news.
  • Kay E. Vandergrift’s Special Interest Page - Offering a variety of resources and links for educators, this site focuses on youth literature, genre fiction, women's studies, writing and research methods, and related topics.
  • Young Adult Librarian’s Help/Homepage - A site created to provide resources for librarians serving teens, it features articles and professional pages for young adult librarians as well as sites for teens and teen reading recommendations.
Award Organizations
  • KIDS FIRST!™ - a project of Coalition for Quality Children's Media, evaluates and rates children's media, videos, CD-ROMs, and television, using a highly acclaimed method that has been praised by parents and educators alike. It utilizes professionally designed criteria and evaluation tools, and engages a volunteer jury comprised of child development professionals, teachers, parents and CHILDREN of diverse geographic, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
